AI in the Assessor’s Office: Opportunities, Cautions, and Emerging Trends
- Date: Wednesday, April 15, 2026
- Time: 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM (1.0 hour)
This panel session explores the current and emerging use of artificial intelligence (AI) within county assessor offices, with focus on operational applications, governance, and risk management. AI tools discussed are presented as support resources only and do not replace statutory appraisal judgement. Representatives from multiple counties and jurisdictions will discuss how AI tools are being evaluated, adopted, or restricted within their organizations, including the development of county and office-level policies.
The session is facilitated through targeted questions designed to examine practical use cases, limitations, ethical considerations, and best practices for responsible implementation in assessment environments. Participants will gain practical insight into how peer counties are evaluating AI tools while maintaining statutory appraisal judgement and assessor responsibility.
